I am hoping that someone on here can tell me how to create a custom action that will launch an external url? In a perfect world I would be able to create a workflow with an output of a url and a new tab or window would pop up to display the page. Another alternative would be to populate a property and if the ui detected the custom property you would get item on your menu. I think this is a very simple but powerful feature. If I could do this today I could work around the fact their are no meaningful performance metrics displayed on the vm page by adding a link that would kick up the vCenter web client to the performance url for the vm. I could grab the vm name and pull up our machine database page. I could list tons of other things we might want to initiate while inside the console in which it would be nice to initiate the connection to some other web console.
