vCAC 6.0 - Set CDROM drive to certain letter during VM provisioning

This may be a silly question but....

If you wanted to set the CDROM drive to a certain drive letter during provisioning of VMs through vCAC (cloning), what would be the easiest way to do that?  For example, if I always wanted the CD-ROM to be changed to I:, instead of being D:.  When additional disks are chosen as part of the vCAC request form, want to make sure they are added as D:, E:, and so on.  Thanks!

Just curious how you went about resolving this issue?  I have a client that is interested in the exact same thing.  Did you build out a custom vco workflow to make it happen?

The easiest way to approach it is to create a diskpart script, put that into your template(s) and have it execute as part of the RunOnce during the post-sysprep stage prior to the provisioned state workflow kicking off. I did something similar, but on a totally crazier level, to do disk formatting.

I think the actual content of the file would look like this (but you'll want to verify, I'm doing this from memory without my script handy):

select volume 0

remove

assign letter=<letter to assign>

Then, what you want to do is run: diskpart /s <file>

Should be pretty simple / straight forward to do.
