Check the VAMI on port 5480 and the Services tab to make sure all the services say Registered. You may not have the IaaS service registered due to some failure.

Try rebooting your front-end appliance to see if it comes back. It sometimes does this on new installations.

Then you probably need to check logs on the web server to get further details.

i run:

tail -n0 -F /storage/log/vmware/vcac/* > /tmp/logon.log

i can't see any problem in the logs. expect from those lines:

I meant logs on the web (Windows) server, not the cafe appliance. Check event viewer and logs for the application.

Login to whatever Windows IaaS server holds your web role. Check the Windows event viewer. Check the logs at C:\Program Files (x86)\VMware\vcac\Server\Logs. Do you see errors?

We are having the same issue with a clean install of vRA 7.3

Did the complete installation all over again, to be sure that we did not do something wrong, but still the Infrastructure tab is missing.

The corresponding user has IaaS Administrator permissions.

In the 'My Goals' view we do have a shortcut to [Configure Endpoints] and [Create Fabric Groups].

We can click these but nothing happens (obviously).

The Windows event viewer and vcac server logs do not show any errors at all..

Is there anything we could be missing?

What do your Windows IaaS servers look like? Is this a minimal install, distributed, or full enterprise? Are you using load balancers? And in the VAMI, do you see the iaas services show up as REGISTERED?

We have tried both the minimal and distributed deployments.

At this moment no load balancers involved.

In VAMI, all services show up as REGISTERED.

IaaS Servers in our minimal deployment setup:

  1. Windows Server 2016 with these roles:
    • Web Server
    • Model Manager
    • Manager Service Host
    • DEM
    • Agent
  2. Windows Server 2016 with SQL Server 2016 Standard

IaaS Servers in our distributed deployment, at this moment each role consisting of one server:

  1. 2016 with Web Server and Model Manager Host roles
  2. 2016 with Manager Service Host role
  3. 2016 with DEM role
  4. 2016 with Agent role
  5. 2016 with SQL Server 2016 Standard

Both deployments have the same issue with the Infrastructure tab missing.

Installations were successful without any errors.

Windows Server 2016 is not supported as an IaaS host, so that could be your issue right there. I'd recommend trying again (minimal) with a 2012 R2 system since those are proven to work.

Will try with Windows Server 2012R2 now.

However in the Support Matrix it does say that Windows Server 2016 is supported for IaaS components since vRA version 7.3:

Do you have Windows firewall enabled? Have you checked DNS and NTP? Can all nodes resolve all names, short and long? Did you try the configurationadmin@vsphere.local account?

That's interesting to know because it doesn't align with the published installation material for that version. So it's either an oversight or an error. I can tell you that in the dozens of vRA 7.x environments I've deployed, I've never had a case where the Infrastructure tab wouldn't show up. All of them have been on 2012 R2. That's not proof 2016 won't work, but helpful information I suppose.
