how to reset root passwd for vRealize Business Standard appliance 7?

Hi experts,

May I ask how to reset root passwd for vRealize Business Standard  appliance 7?

Greetings,

there are no instructions specific to the vRB appliance, but you can try to use the instructions for the VCSA. Since both are Linux based appliances there is a good chance that this will also work on vRB:

VMware KB: VMware vCenter Server Appliance 5.5 and 6.0 root account locked out after password expira...

Booting into grub and then resetting the password works a charm and i've done it with vRB before

it seems to be different with the other appliance, with run level 1 it boots into "rescure mode" and asks you for root passwd before

If all fails you can always download a SUSE live iso and boot the appliance that way and reset the password
