As of 6.2, no. If you want to continue using VMRC and you're aware of the security implications then you can stay on 6.1.

The security issue Grant referred to is described here: VMSA-2014-0013.
There will be an update to vRA later in Q1 to restore VMRC connectivity to vSphere machines.
I'm also working on a POC for delivering student lab environments. Is there a workaround available until the offical patch? I really don't want to provision separate resources pools for each student and grant them permissions so that they can use vcenter to access the VM consoles.
cmbwml@rit.eduSorry cmbwml@rit.edu, Since its a security issue there is no workaround at this point of time.
In theory you could deploy an old 6.1 build without the security patch and use VMRC.
Otherwise, enable RDP/SSH.
