Slow provisioning in vRA 8.2

Hello

I have a vRA 8.2 installation and have created a blueprint which contains an image/template with 1-3 empty virtual machines.

Provisioning of one to three such empty machines attached to an existing NSX-T network takes 20 minutes. I can see the machine(s) being in the correct network and powered on in vCenter after just a few minutes, but it takes ~ 20 minutes for the "Compute provision" step in the request to finish.

Is there any way to speed this up or figure out what it is blocking the request from finishing? What is it checking before proceeding to CREATE_FINISHED?

vRA is waiting for the VM's IP address. Try this out, create a tiny template with a Linux server, and deploy it in a Network without DHCP, it will take close than 15 minutes, but if you enable DHCP, vRA will finish it very quickly.

I had this problem with Linux machines, where the underlying problem was customization took too much time and finally timed out after about 20min. In my case after looking inside customization logs the vm template was missing Perl
