vMotion Network Routable between 2 VLANS

Hi All,  have following quetion plese suggest.

I have vcenter version running 7 version , underlaying harware is Nutanix and Hypervisor is ESXI, WE have some work loads running in this environment with xyz clusters. Now we are building are builidng a new clusters based on Nutanix and hypervisor are esxi and these will be added to vcenter ( vCenter is Same for both old cluster and New Cluster) we are planning to do a storage vMotion between Old to New Cluster , Our Question is Vmotion Network should be a routable between old and new clusters ? or if we have diffrent vlan or network for old and new vmotion network will storage vmotion will work or we should have the reachability of old and new cluster or hosts via the vmotion segments ?

Hi Sumanth

If your new Hosts/Clusters can access the old and new storage then Storage vMotion will work. This could just be temporary until the VMs have been migrated. Once the storage vMotions have completed you can remove the old storage from the new hosts.

This KB covers vMotion networks - Understand vMotion networking requirements (59232) (vmware.com), but not storage vMotion netowrks. You might also want to checkout this link Solved: Which network uses svMotion? - VMware Technology Network VMTN

Hope that helps

Hi,

The important thing is that vmotion between two vlans works but with default stack, not vmotion stack.
