Resource utilization

Hi all,

Could any one let me know the command for getting the exact utilzation of resources (CPU and Memory) consumend by VMs? The output I would really like to get is What is the max. Memory and CPU configured for the VM?, How much resources are  utilized?, how much memory that VM gives to host thru ballooning ,etc? Any replies for this much appreciated

Hello and welcome to the forums.

The easiest way is to use the vSphere client's performance tab.  There is also the esxtop/resxtop option from the command line.  These options will show you the performance from the host side.  If you are doing this from the guest VM, then you will be limited to the VMware performance counters (in vSphere and Windows only, and only if they were installed as part of VMware Tools on the guest).

Good Luck!

In addition to esxtop and vCenter graphs, you might consider third party tools like Veeam Monitor for this information.  They are likely to give you more info than what is available in vCenter and can also show trending and growth of resources over time.
