I'm migrating VM's from one Datastore Cluster to another Datastore Cluster. I have to do it from Cloud Director so I can't simply right-click on the VM's and use the ordinary migration way. What I do is essentielle changing the storage policy on the VM's and this triggers the Storage vMotion in vCenter.
On the source all VMDK (and VMX) is together. The destination Cluster has "keep VMDK Together" checked but the disks (and VMX) on a VM is initially placed across datastores in the cluster. Storage DRS will clean this up when run but this is a problem in my particular setup due to some storage snapshots I won't get into.
Is there a way to ensure that VMDK's (and VMX) is placed together in the initial placement?
