Hot Add/Remove CPU and Memory?

Is Hot remove of CPU and Memory possible without powering off VM?. If yes what all operating systems supports this.

In most of the blogs i have read that hot add is possible in new versions of OS. But not hot remove.

Following OS’s support hot add CPU/RAM

  • Windows 2003 Enterprise (RAM Only) and Datacenter (CPU & RAM)

  • Windows 2008 Enterprise (RAM Only) and Datacenter (CPU & RAM)

  • Linux running kernel 2.6.14 or above

for Linux in additional take a look Hot add cpu to supported Linux guestOSes using vSphere ESX(i) 4.0

and Hot-add vCPU is not automatically activated in some SLES 11 guests
