High CPU utilization peaks on Console service

Hi,

We're experiencing a weird problem on one of our ESX 4 hosts.

We had a similar problem on ESX 3.5, that was because some kind of incompatibility IPMI service with our hardware.

From times to times, there's high CPU utilization peaks as screen below shows and there's no VMs on this host.

There's also a constant consumption of 10%-20%, that it's not present on other ESX4 hosts.

Our configuration is: Sun Blade X6250 - Intel Xeon QuadCore E5440 @ 2.83Gh, 20Gb RAM, using ALUA configured as explained here:

Has someone experienced a problem like that? Or, know what might happening?

I assume you have tried the basics: reboot, service mgmt-vmware restart, service vmware-vpxa restart, checking top and esxtop commands? You mentioned no VMs run on this host, have you also tried a re-install?

Hope this helps! === If you find this information useful, please award points for "correct" or "helpful". ===

Yeah, I've tried all of these commands.

Checked esxtop and top. That's how I know it's using from 10% to 20% of constant CPU consumption.

I didn't try a reinstall, I'm quite sure it'll solve the problem. But I really wanna know what's going on.

Thanks anyways...

Ok, I've tried a clean reinstall and the high utilization still happening.

I've upgraded the firmware and bios of my Sun Blade x6250.

Smiley Sad
