Hall.dll errors in vSphere 4.0 Cluster!

Hi all

I have a cluster of two IBM HS21 diskless blades booting from an IBM DS3400 (4gbit). 2 Logical Units for each blade OS and a third for a shared DataStore. Everythings ok, no warnings or alerts. Both blades are clustered with DRS and HA.

BUT, when installing a Windows 2003 Std VM in the shared datastore, I keep getting hall.dll and ntoskrnl.exe errors prior to Windows boot....Curious thing is that when installingthe same VM in a OS Logical Unit (not the shared one) it works fine. Windows boots ok. Then I try migrating it to the shared DataStore again and again hal.dll appears. Tried templates, different zoning schemes, single storage controlle, dual controller, thick disk format, thin provisioning... it all ends up showing the hall.dll issue. If I move the VM back to the Storage1 of any blade, it won't boot anymore. It seems that once the VM touches the shared datastore it corrupts out forever.

Strange thing is that With ESX 3.5 this scenario worked perfectly. Please help...!

Very strange.

If you have SnS make a call to VMware.

Have you tried other OS on the shared storage?

Are you using thin provisioning?

Apparently it was some unknown error. I just removed hosts, and re-created the Cluster and it worked fine.
