Failed to Migrate VM: Mapped Raw LUN (Physical RDM)

I'm having issues with migrating a powered off VM that has a RDM virtual disk to another datastore, is this possible? or am i pretty much up the creek?

migration get's to 99% complete, plenty of space for the new file in the data store, thick/thin/same all 3 fail same way.

Relocate virtual machine

VMware Data Recovery

Incompatible device

backing specified for

device '0'.

Cannot relocate virtual machine 'VMware Data

Recovery' in KCUC-COLO

error

Some Additional Information:

The RDM is mapped in physical mode, and the host is a member of a cluster.

More info round 2:

I've migrated all other VM's off this host, removed it from the cluster. i'm still not able ot change from Physical to Vitrual mode for the RDM.

i'm trying a migration now to see if taking it out of a cluster corrects the issue.

If the VM is powered off , you could clone the VM to the destination datastore and then power on the cloned VM .

Do all the Hosts have access to the LUN in question?
