Failed DMotion

We have a DFS file server that failed a DMotion. It has one 60GB disk.

The DMotion failed and left 2 DMotion vmdk's on the old datastore with 2 original vmdk's (server.vmdk and server_1.vmdk) , with the rest of the files on the new datastore. However, the new datastore also contains 2 vmdk files that are almost the same size as the originals, which still exist at the source.

[See attached image] XXXXXXE102 is the original Host and Datastore. The other Datastore is an iSCSI target.

I've tried to follow a few articles on this to commit the DMotion files, to no avail. The process mentioned creating a snapshot and then deleting it. However, the DMotion vmdk's remain there even after the snapshtot is deleted and the original vmdk's remain the same size. I've tried this 3 times, hence the filenames below.

I had removed the VM from the Host but Ive now added it back to the original host that it came from (usign root).

The disks in the vmx are:

scsi0:0.fileName = "DMotion-scsi0:00_VIRBHS211-000003.vmdk

scsi0:1.fileName = "DMotion-scsi0:01_VIRBHS211_1-000003.vmdk"

Both DMotion parents are blank:

scsi0:0.DMotionParent = ""

scsi0:1.DMotionParent = ""

I would really appreciate some help with this as I'm a bit stuck.

Thanks

Paul

or another thing i would try is to do a full clone and make a new clean VM out.

Hi Paul,

I would file a case with the VMware support, thing can go awfully wrong otherwise.
