Does vSphere CLI Use FTP?

Does anyone know what vSphere CLI uses to connect to a hypervisor? I suspect it's FTP, but I can't get a confirmation on this.

I believe the ports it communicates over are similar to the vSphere Client -SSH or HTTPS and maybe the vmware ports of 901or 902

Page 89 of the vSphere Command-Line Interface manual PDF says the default is port 902.
