DRS cluster size limitation

Hi,

What is the reason that DRS clusters are limited to 32 hosts? Is it CPU on the vCenter machine or something else (e.g storage)? Any plans on increasing the cluster size?

Thanks,

Dan

First I have to ask - why would you need a cluster with more than 32 nodes? 32 hosts with dual quad core cpus and sufficient memory should be able to support more than 900 vms - which IMHO owuld be a management nightmare -

Well, larger clusters can drive utilization up and reduce the constraints for manual partitioning. The same reasons that DRS adds value in the first place.

I am wondering why 32 is the limit.

One of the obvious reasons is LUNs connected to hosts. The max amount of hosts connected to the same LUN is also 32. This is to avoid an insane amount of scsi reservation conflicts.
