Can I vMotion

Hi Al,

Sure this has been asked before but here goes.  I have an exisitng VM environment comprising 4 HP DL380G5's. I want to add 1 or 2 BL460c G6's to the environment and be able to vMotion between them all.  We don't have EVC enabled as apparently one of the hosts won't support it.  I have some G6's in a new site so I have compared the CPU ID's, see the attached pic.  So Can I do this?

You will only be able to vMotion between ESX hosts if you are able to add those hosts to the same EVC cluster.

If one of the hosts can not be added to the EVC cluster, it will also not be able to take part in vMotion migrations from that cluster as it can not be masked to the same level.

One day I will virtualise myself . . .
