"Per VM Memory Cap" Comments

There have been more questions on the Per VM memory Cap field when generating reports.  Here are some bullet points on the field and impact in the usage meter appliance.

  • The VM Memory Cap is a setting in the usage meter appliance that limits the size of the virtual machine to be billed.
  • Even though the field is available in all reports, it only applies to the aggregate billing report
  • In the aggregate billing report, the sum for both "Total Aggregate Billed vRAM" and "Total Billed vRAM" are equal to each other unless there are virtual machines affected by the cap.  If so, the "Total Billed vRAM" will decrease.
  • The current VM Memory Cap is 24576 MB (24GB) to be entered in manually in to the appliance each time the report is run.  We are looking at having this be a configuration for a future release.
