how do i use the UM across more than one vlan/network?

I have many many vms in different vlans on 1 virtual switch. How do i report on those? The OVA installer wants you to install it to one network and give it 1 ip address. That works for 1 network and 1 subnet but what about my other 20+ vlans and subnets with VMs on them?

Please remember that Usage Meter does not talk directly to virtual machines.

Usage Meter talks directly to vCenter itself, and the other VMware Products (e.g. vCOPs).  One would hope that vCenter/ESXi/vCOps/etc that you are monitoring are all on routable networks (if not the same subnet).

thanks. I think that is where i was confused. I have dedicated management interfaces on my vswitches with no vm access. Looks like ill have to add in a vm port group to this switch to talk to our management network (which is where vcenter lives).

That sounds about right.  If vCenter is a virtual machine, I tend to find that most customers deploy usage meter very close it it (same management cluster).  Not saying that it's a requirement, just a suggestion.
