Why does the VUM 3.6 need to log in to vCenter as Administrator?

Hi,

I'm having trouble understanding why would VUM need an Administrator access to vcenter to READ usage data from it. Until v3.5 we used dedicated login "vum@vsphere.local" that has read-only access to the whole vCenter and it works just fine. Now the v3.6 seems to read the usage data fine with such a user, but emits weird error with empty error string to the "Monitor" page.

Could this be fixed?

Hi,

To work around this issue, do the following:

  1. Login in to the vSphere Web Client.
  2. Navigate to Administration > Roles.
  3. Click the Create role button.
  4. Type a name for the new role.
  5. Select the following permission:
    Profile-driven storage > Profile-driven storage view
  6. Assign the new role to the user which is used for vCloud Usage Meter collection.
Thanks, Vinayaga.
