How to get GB/hr down

We were wondering if there was a way to get that number down.  I was thinking that putting a reservation on every VM would effect that number, but it has not.  Is there any other secret?

The meter measures based on the following:

  • Powered on VMs
  • The reserved virtual RAM associated to a VM. It takes 50% as the minimum reservation level for billing purposes. This does not limit you setting a lower level in your environment, but it will not reduce the usage recorded.

So the only way to reduce the GB/hr is to

  • power off your VMs at night/weekends or
  • set your reservation level to 50% or
  • reduce the vRAM assigned to your VMs

Finally the last way is to double check that you are using the right bundle ... do you need to use vSphere Enterprise Plus or would vSphere Enterprise with dist switch enabled suffice?

Kevin
