Are there details about how this works available?
Specifically what logic does the Usage Meter use, to determine if a VM should be licensed for which version of NSX.
VMware Support provided the whitepaper, so I have uploaded it here in lieu of any recent update on the community forums from VMware on this issue.
Please review the vCloud Usage Meter Release Notes as there is quite a lot of information for NSX, as well as the VMware vCloud Usage Meter Landing Page.
Could you please point to where that is mentioned on the docs your are linking too?
Lots of information yes, but not answering the question as far as I can see.
Yeah I read everything, even the API documentation and couldn't find it anywhere.
Hi PeterCr,
the US team is working on a WhitePater to provide the detailed answer on how the Usage Meter 3.6 defines if a VM is consuming a NSX Base, Advanced or Enterprise feature. So please stay tuned.
Regards,
Jerome
Awesome, please provide details on the detection itself.
Thank you!

Hi Anders,
I would kindly ask to wait for the offical release of this whitepaper. 😉
I guess following the VMware Blogs
vCloud Architecture Toolkit (vCAT) Blog - - VMware Blogs
VMware vCloud Blog - VMware vCloud
https://blogs.vmware.com/vcat/vcloud-air-network
VMlive event related Usage Meter 3.6 could help you until the official release:
Regards,
Jerome
Where in the Usage Meter 3.6 is the per VM NSX Edition information visible?
Also is there any update on the whitepaper?
