Errors in UMT 3.5 User Guide

Page 11 :

Verify that you have vSphere Client installed and that you have at least read-only administrator

  1. privileges.

Do not think that one can install a VM from a OVA with only Read-Only privileges.

Page 12 :

1 In vSphere Client, open the virtual console and select Set Timezone.

2 Press Enter.

3 Change your time zone.

4 Type service tomcat restart to restart the Tomcat service.

5 Type exit to return to the virtual machine console.

Was never at a command prompt where this command could be typed.

Was thrown back to VM Console / splash screen after confirming local time by pressing 1 when changing TimeZone. Had to login as root after setting TimeZone to be able to enter the command.

So more correct would be (if tomcat still needs to be restarted) :

1 In vSphere Client, open the virtual console and select Set Timezone.

2 Press Enter.

3 Change your time zone.

4 Log in as root

5 Type service tomcat restart to restart the Tomcat service.

6 Type exit to return to the virtual machine console.

On Usage Meter 3.5.0, log in as root (or log in as usgmtr and change to root), and run the importum

<hostname> <version> command, where <hostname> is the TCP hostname or IP address of the old Usage

Meter and <version> is either 3.3.3 or 3.4.0.

Had to use 340 as version number for importum command to accept the parameter

Text above makes one believe that correct command could be importumcat /va old-umt-server 3.4.0

Following command worked for me :

importum old-umt-server 340
