Default Login for 3.1.0.0 OVF deployment?? Documented login is not working!

The documented login   root/vmware  does not work for the latest 3.1.0.0 OVF template.  Is there another login for this?  I've gotten as far as setting my time zone but I can not login to the console session to do anything else as  root/vmware does not appear to be working.  And I've tired it at least a dozen times..

I’m not aware of any other reports of this problem. Global Support Services, or other Community members, might have ideas.
