Updating vmtools in the vShield Manager

Hello,

I'm having a problem getting the IP of the vShield Manager VM to show up in vCenter. The vmtools say "Out of date". I've tried updating the tool with Update Manager and it just keeps failing. Has anyone been able to update the tools and if so please do tell.

Hi Will,

I have been investigating my own problems with my vShield Zones installation and found your post. I remembered reading this article and not sure if you have read it or not.

Of interest to you is the section below.

VMware Tools

The vSphere Client will report that VMware Tools is not installed on the vShield Manager and agent virtual machines (VMs). Do not attempt to install VMware Tools on those VMs as it is not required and the performance optimization that VMware Tools provides is already built in to the vShield Zones VMs

Hope this helps..
