NSX Licensing

I know NSX is not going to be released until Quarter 4 2013 but does anyone know how this will work?

* I found a document saying NSX is licensed per VM

* What are the vSphere requirements?

* Do you require vxCloud Suite

* can you get NSX on top of Enterprise Plus licensing?

anyone know?

Hi,

For NSX, you don't need the vCloud Suite, as NSX is sold as a stand-alone product. You do need the Distributed vSwitch though, which means you must have vSphere Enterprise edition. NSX also requires vCenter 5.5; and for all the features to be supported, needs to run on ESXi 5.5 as well.

Hope this helps....

News is that NSX licensing may be per port, not per VM.

The VMware Product Guide http://www.vmware.com/files/pdf/vmware-product-guide.pdf says per VM.

But I just got an update from my colleague that NSX is coming with perpetual licenses similar with other VMware Products in a-la carte per VM and CPU-based.

Consult VMware for more informations about this.

Thanks,

Bayu
