I try reboot the system, empty logs, ... But the error is the same.
When I upload again de upgrade tar.gz,, I get an error becouse, don´t have enaught space.
Any suggestion?
Thanks
Hi Termita,
I believe you are not able to upgrade because the vShield manager file system is full.
As s a precaution take a snapshot of the vShield manaher and follow below steps.
To check , login to vShield manager console Directly
manager# show filesystems
Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on
/dev/sda2 5.7G 991M 4.4G 19% /
shm 3.9G 0 3.9G 0% /dev/shm
/dev/sda6 44G 979M 41G 3% /common
Check the free space available on the root directory, if it is full it will fail, you may have to purge the logs to get the free space.
Type below commands.
manager# purge log manager
manager# purge log system
Check if you get any free space.
Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on
/dev/sda2 5.7G 985M 4.4G 18% /
shm 3.9G 0 3.9G 0% /dev/shm
/dev/sda6 44G 979M 41G 3% /common
In my example , I got around 6 MB free (Since it is fresh deployment)
Let me know how it goes, Happy virtualizing.
Hi karthickvm,
thanks, this is a very good response.
I yet try remove the logs with the same commands that you say.
In my case, have:
manager> show filesystem
Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on
/dev/sda3 1.5G 834M 579M 60% /
shm 1012M 0 1012M 0% /dev/shm
/dev/sda6 3.5G 2.3G 1011M 70% /common
But with the same problem.
Now, I access to file system with a live cd and remove the dowload data.
then I get:
manager> show filesystem
Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on
/dev/sda3 1.5G 834M 579M 60% /
shm 1012M 0 1012M 0% /dev/shm
/dev/sda6 3.5G 1.8G 1.6G 54% /common
And upload newly the upgrade file, and monotoring the FS.
The problem is that file to upgrade, can no up becouse, don´t have space.
I need more free space, the file upgrade have 1.2Gb
With a live cd, i see that in /dev/sda6, the mysql data have 800Mb in ibdata1 file.
I think in 3 solutions:
- purge ibdata1 file of mysql
- Make a nuew disk for folder /em/dowloads in sda6
- make a sda6 more bigger
More forms to resolve this issue?
Hi Termita,
In this scenario, take a Snapshot and a complete backup if possible.
The following resolution steps are not supported and basically manually editing the vShield manager VM is not supported.
1. purge ibdata1 file of mysql
Answer :If you can do it then purge the data of mysql and try upgrade.
Answer: If you increase the space , it will definitely will download the file , but when the upgrade it have to write to root directory so it may fail
Answer: This may solve the problem, but not sure.
If you have Vmware support entitlement , please raise Support Request .
Hi karthickvm,
I can update de version, with option 2. But the system in your configuration is reset.
Only Network is configured, but don´t have VC, and i suposse than the policy and edge not is configured.
Is it logical to happen?
I have two VM:
- The original in v5.0.2 than work fine
- The upgrade in v5.1.0, but without connection to VC
We have a bakup of v5.0.2, Can I restore this backup in v5.1.0?
Only I hope than the FW App's and EDGE, don´t lose your policy.
Perhaps is better, for all problems, create a new VM in v5.1.0 with OVA
Can you help me? I have fear if my data center loses connectivity.
Yes you can go with fresh deployment of vShield manager and then import the rules.
I'm having the same issues upgrading from 5.0.2 to 5.1.
As soon as I upload the tar.gz I get the message:
"Error processing offline update file VMware-vShield-Manager-upgrade-bundle-5.1.0-807847.tar.gz"
What is the correct procedure of removing a vShield 5.0.2 and readd a new vShield 5.1?
BTW It is crazy that they created a VM for vShield with such little disk space in the era of "Thin Provision everywhere"....
