The VM templates, (used further in vRA image mappings), need to be updated periodically. We have VMs set up that power on automatically on a schedule, get the updates and power-off. I can also schedule a script to clone them to templates at the same time, but since the templates are used in image mappings, a change in ID will cause the image mapping to break in Cloud Assembly.
Is there any way I can update the existing templates in place, without breaking the image mapping?
Previously, we were trying to do this using content libraries, but the CL is causing other issues. I had asked a similar question for content library items:
