vCenter Server Heartbeat error

Hi All,

Have come into an environment with vCenter Heartbeat setup undocumented! trying to fault find it as it is complaining that the Active/Passive connection can't be established. Notice on the Passive Node that the "NeverFail Server R2" service is not running, should it be?

simple question i hope.

regards

If the Neverfail Server R2 service is not running on the passive node, it is normal to receive the message you mentioned.

The sys tray icon for vCSHB on passive should show you -/- - that means the HB is not running on the server.

Before you start it (right click systray icon select Start VMware vCSHB) you should first check if the server is indeed passive (open Configure Server Wizard, Machine tab and verify that the Primary is selected as Active Server). Also you could check the applications events log in case HB did not shutdown gracefully on that server.

Thanks Laura, same response from VMware. Looks like the client stopped the service Friday evening so will verify and restart it later.
