How to simulate failover

Hi,

How do I simulate vCenter Server Heartbeat failover? I have a P2V setup and need to test whether failover works or not. Powering off the Primary vCenter Server does not automatically failover to the Secondary vCenter Server.

For vcshb 6.3 and vcshb 6.4, there are documentations on failover simulation. However, I could not find such info in vcshb 6.5 documentation.

Thare is no Quick Start guide for vCSHB 6.5. The Installation Verification Testing was added to each of the 4 install guides. There you have 3 exercises to perform:

“Exercise 1 — Auto-switchover,” on page 47

“Exercise 2 - Data Verification,” on page 49

“Exercise 3 - Switchover,” on page 50

In particular pg 26 details the automatic failover process, if in a test environment should be able to trigger a failover based on the criteria
