Do I need a dedicated MSSQL HB channel if I am using separate vC & MSSQL servers?

Scenario:

Site 1:

Each server runs as its own vm:

vCenter1

MSSQL1

Site 2:

Each server runs as its own vm:

vCenter2

MSSQL2

I know that a channel IP is required between the two vCenter servers, but is another channel IP necessary for the remote MSSQL servers??

Yes. You'll need a channel IP address for every host or VM you're protecting with vCenter Server Heartbeat.
