what is uuid:location ?

Hi All,

What does the field uuid:location in vmx file represent? I am noticing that this field changes on doing a vmotion. Does this represent the host on which VM is running?

Thanks,

Prasad.

Then all the VMs on the same host should have the same uuid.location right? It doesn't look like that.

Hi Prasad, it is a uniquie identifier that the vmkernel creates for each VM to be able to identify it. It will change any time your move or copy a VM (as it does with vmotion).
