vmware-syslog status warning on VCSA 6.0

I'm getting a warning occasionally from my VCSA 6.0 system that reports "vmware-syslog status changed from green to yellow". The system has 16 Gb of memory and, as far as I can tell, all syslog-related settings for vCenter Server are default - meaning, nothing unique has been configured related to syslog.

I didn't see any matches from my search in VMTN for this issue and wanted to ask for some direction on further troubleshooting. Thanks in advance!

Can you provide us the output of the command "df -h" from your VCSA?

Hi there,

This warning is usually seen when the storage/log mount has less than 30/15% free space, which is why Richardson asked for the output.

Head into your vSphere Web Client and go to Administration > System Configuration (under deployment). From here you get an overview of the nodes and services. I suspect you'll have a service in a critical or warning state. If so, click on the hyperlink and it will show you which services are in this state. You can then click on the service and you'll be taken to a summary page for that specific service on the node in question and it will have the issue detailed under 'Health Messages'.

Cheers, Matt.

Thanks, Matt. Looks like everything is ok for now - which makes sense since this warning only appears occasionally.

Can this 'storage/log' space be expanded? I presume that I might be running up against that 30/15% threshold.
