vmfs file locking

Hi

I am trying to get my head around the vmfs file locking system as regards  when used with vm clustrering in shared storage. its purpose is to stop other esxi hosts gaining access to the shared storage from corrupting a virtual machines vmfs? for instance another host cannot power on this vm, are we talking about the .vmx configuration file here or am i way off? does it restrict complete access to all the config files associated with a vm?

Any help appreciated..

Purpose of "VMFS file locking" is blocking other ESX host gaining the access. It locked the all the VM related files and especially VMX file. Refer this links:
