Have vcenter 4.1 on windows 2008 R2 on one vm

vcenter sql on windows 2003 on another vm

In case vcenter sql machine needs to be rebooted, what precautions to take so that vcenter 4.1 machine will not freak out.

Thanks

well if you reboot your VCDB VM, vCenter will go go down.  With that said, once the VCDB is back online, vCenter should come back online as well.  With vCenter down, the only functionality you lose is DRS/vMotion. HA will continue to work just fine.

There is nothing to be worried with this as once Database server comes up.. vc also comes up gradually./

as a precaution you can follow the below as a best practise.so that we can avoid at the max risk of database connection to VC.

Before database server is rebooted.

stop the virtual center serivices in VC server

reboot the data base server and once it up.

start the virtual center serverice in VC server
