i am currently running nexus 1000v on vcenter 6.0
if I upgrade to 6.5 will it stop working?

As per KB FAQ: Discontinuation of third party vSwitch program (2149722) | VMware KB
The third party switch APIs will work and be supported up to vSphere 6.5 Update 1
So it will work until VMware closes API in next release after 6.5U1.
