vcenter 4.1 vapp and ip pools not working

Hi,

I have ESX 4.1 server vcenter 4.1 fresh install, trying to use ip pool (assigned to vm network), setup vapp as ip transient ip policy, enabled vapp on the vm in the vapp. I want to use ip pool to assign IP's from a range but when the vm boots up it doesn't seem to work.

vm is centos 5.5 and dhcp enabled which works and gets ip from dhcp server. vmware tools are installed in the vm and working.

How is this supposed to work. Do I need to set vm to static IP and let vmtools change to the ip pool?

Documentation is no help at all for this setup.

Hi,

Vapp use ovf so you must convert your vmx to ovf. (ovftool)

See : http://pubs.vmware.com/vsp40_i/wwhelp/wwhimpl/js/html/wwhelp.htm#href=admin/c_managing_vmware_vapp.h...

bye
