vSpere web client access from Win8.1 and IE 11

Having some strange behavior accessing the vSphere Web Client from Windows 8.1 using IE11 from laptop systems.

vCenter version is 6.0 update 1b

We re-imaged a laptop and a desktop both with the exact same base image, no additional drivers or configuration settings, both are using a wired connection on the same network., etc...  Upon first bootup of the OS we attempt to access the web client from IE11 (desktop browser, not the metro app browser)  The desktop machine works while the laptop does not.  Symptoms are immediately after providing login credentials, the laptop just sits there with the blue web client background with the clock icon spinning.  The desktop displays the web client interface as expected.

I'm at a loss as to what may be causing this and was looking to see if anyone had any suggestions as to why the laptop would fail but the desktop would connect.

thanks for any insight.

Hi Dan,

Check if your notebook it is OK with all requeriments :

vSphere Web Client Software Requirements

Make sure that your browser supports the vSphere Web Client.

The vSphere Web Client 6.0 requires Adobe Flash Player 16 or later. The latest Adobe Flash Player version for Linux systems is 11.2. Therefore, the vSphere Web Client cannot run on Linux platforms.

VMware has tested and supports the following guest operating systems and browser versions for the vSphere Web Client. For best performance, use Google Chrome.

Operating system

Browser

Windows

Microsoft Internet Explorer 10.0.19 and later.

Mozilla Firefox 34 and later.

Google Chrome 39 and later.
