vCentre Server 4 U1 Ent./Ent. Plus

Hi,

I'm looking at the download site for vCenter Server 4U1 and I noticed there's different downloads for Ent. and Ent. Plus. If initially I'm going to be running vSphere Ent. and then some other vSphere Ent. Plus which version should I install or are they actually all the same?

Cheers........ many thanks

Is the same file for download. What makes it different in the future will be the license you configure for it. Every since you change the license type, it will add/remove the add ons and functionalities.

From vmware store:

By upgrading from vSphere Enterprise to vSphere Enterprise Plus, you

can:

  • Utilize VMware vNetwork Distributed Switch to reduce costs and
improve the accuracy of managing virtual networking while enabling
third-party software switches such as the Cisco Nexus 1000v to plug
    directly into the vSphere infrastructure

  • Utilize VMware Host Profiles to provide a configuration
management tool for VMware ESX and ESXi hosts, ensuring configuration
compliance and automating the configuration of new servers added into
    the environment

Also you can to look at Vsphere edition comparison
