vCenter update from 4.0 to 4.0u1

We are going to be trialing View 4.0, so I need to make sure I cover all bases; update 1 is required for View 4.0. I managed to update our 3 ESX 4.0 servers to 4.0u1 using Update Manager. Do I also need to update our vCenter server too? I do not see a way to update the vCenter server without the cd. When I put it in, I see no options for doing an update. It looks like a clean install. I stopped when I got to the part of the wizard that prompted me for the database instance because I do not want to screw that up.

To upgrade vCenter, just start the installation (from VC ISO or ZIP).

Choose the esisting DB and this will start the upgrade procedure.

Remember to upgrade also VUM, Converter and other plugins.

And in the future, you should always upgrade vCenter BEFORE updating the ESX/ESXi servers.

Thanks for the comments. I just successfully updated vCenter and I am doing the plug ins.

Where is the proper update procedures documented? I see documentation for upgrading from ESX 2 or 3, but clear steps to upgrade from 4.0 to 4.0u1 I found hard to find.

The upgrade process is quite the same.

As I write before be sure to specify the you already have a DB, this will start the upgrade process.
