vCenter server virtualization

Hi,

I have few ESXi servers and one vCenter server.

I am thinking about to virtualize vCenter server ( physical to virtual ) and change IP address of server.

What should I have to do it correctly?

My plan is:

1. Convert physical to virtual

2. power off old vCenter server

3. turn on new one vCenter server

4. change IP address

will it be enough?

Thanks.

Hi,

you can do that, but your ESXi hosts will most likely being shown as disconnected, because they point to the old vCenter IP. But there's a KB article to fix it:

http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US&cmd=displayKC&externalId=100149...

Also the Update Manager might need some reconfiguration if you are using it.

Regards
