SAME ISSUE HERE, Running vSphere Client 4.1  345043 and Win7 (never had this on XP)

But the fonts seems just to be blurry in the LEFT PANE of vSphere Client, not in any other screens.

But that pane is very present in my daily work.

Any other experiencing the same?

Regards,

Oliver

I have just installed the vSphere client to my new laptop with Winows 7 installed and am also experiencing the fuzzy fonts in the left pane.

After playing around for a while with various settings I have found that if I disable ClearType in the control panel then, if I restart the vSphere client, the fuzzy fonts go away and the text in the left pane is nice an crisp as expected. Of course I no longer have ClearType enabled for everything else in Windows which is not great.

One thing I also noted is that if I disable ClearType and then start up the vSphere client, I can then enable and disable ClearType with the client running and see the effect this has on the fonts in vSphere. Suprisingly all the windows and menu items change font appearance on the fly as I enable and disable ClearType with the exception of the left pane (which had the original fuzzy fonts) which does not change at all.

There is definitely some sort of interaction going on between vSphere and the font rendering system in Windows, and for some reason the left pane seems immune to certain changes.

Microsoft KB2545698, "Text displayed in some core fonts appears blurred in Internet Explorer 9 on a computer that is running Windows Vista, Windows Server 2008, Windows 7, or Windows Server 2008 R2" seems to have fixed it for me.

Same issue with Win7 and cleartype enabled and vSphere Client 4.1.0 build 258902. Left side pane looks so blurry. And i will not turn off cleartype, as then all other windows programs look bad on my LCD.

Microsoft KB2545698 doesn't help.

Any solution planned from vmware side?

Anyone ever figure this out?  Same thing in vSphere client 5 and it is happening on both my Windows 7 machines at the office and my Vista machine at home.  Just the left pane in vSphere client and NO other apps are having any problems.

BTW- where is RParker now and his claims that this was limited to only ONE person?  Obviously not the case...

edit- one other thing to point out. I showed this to a co-worker and he couldn't tell what I was talking about in my vSphere client until I showed the comparison screenshots in the beginning of this thread.  So maybe some people just have worse vision than others and not everyone has complained

I have this exact same issue and it is driving me nuts. I have two systems running vShpere Client v4.1, one on XP and one on Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit. The XP system the fonts are crystal clear and sharp but the windows 7 system is blurry and a strain on the eyes.

I have tried turning off every appearance effect on windows 7 and it is still blurry.

Can we run vSphere 5 client to manage a v4 ESX environment?

Can we change the default fonts for thie application anywhere?

Don't take RParker personally. He treats everyone that way.
