vCenter appliance on ARM?

I'd like to create a home lab based on the new ARM support but would I need an x86 host just for the vCenter appliance or is there support for it running on an ARM host?

You would most certainly need an x86 host. vCenter is not built for ARM.

It's interesting to note that there is no reference to cpu architecture or bitness here: vCenter Server Appliance Hardware Requirements

I'm running it on VMware Workstation installed on my primary PC with ESX on the Raspberry Pi for my ARM experiments.

Thats because arm is just a fling, a experimental version, so there might not be references to it officially till its  a production quality product.
