vCenter appliance 6.0 update 2 and SDRS question

Bonjour,

26 hours after a vCenter Appliance upgrade from 6.0 to 6.0 update 2, the vCenter started a complete SDRS storage vMotion for all machines (1164) in all data store clusters. the process was active for 12 hours and was finally completed.

As SDRS uses a 24 hours calculation period:

Question:

1- After an update, do you clear the SDRS calculation/Database?

2- Are there any changes in the vCenter on SDRS calculation method in the update 2?

3- Do we have to expect a complete storage DRS re-organisation after a vCenter upgrade?

Thanks and best regards.

Hi,

You shouldn;t need to change the database, nothing has changed to cause this to happen and it shouldn't happen so I think that SDRS policies may not have been working before the upgrade and after the upgrade the SIOC might have kicked in allowing better viwership of he storage whcih caused the migrations but as for moving all of them that is extremely unusual unless your SDRS is set to aggressive
