vCenter Server - Realtime performance available, but not historical

I have a problem with our vCenter Server.  Quite recently, we bought some new hardware and decided to build a new VC.  As we have less than 25 hosts and less than 300 VMs, we decided to use the MS SQL Express installation included with the VC Server software.

VMware vCenter Server Version 4.1.0 (Build 345043)

When we try to look at the performance tab for either a host or a VM, the overview shows "No data available".  However, real-time (advanced) stats are working without a problem.

I've looked on the KB for answers to this problem, but can't seem to find a solution for SQL Express (it normally occurs after an upgrade or restore which we've not done).

Any ideas?

Hi,

I want to know quite a few information reg. your issue. Let me know them, I can try to help you.

1. Is this a fresh installation of vCenter Server or an upgrade from any previous versions? If so, whats the source version.

2. Can you try viewing "historical data" from Performance -> Advanced tab and let know the results.? You have posted that realtime data from advanced is working fine. I want to know whether historical data works.
