Setup: vCenter 5 with an Oracle DB, 13 hosts and about 99 VM's.
Wanted to know if anyone thinks it's abnormal for vCenter to generate enough transactions to warrant filling up an Oracle archive logs folder with 200GB over 3 days? My question into tech support returned an answer that this was normal but I'd like to hear from anyone else running vCenter with an Oracle DB in archivelog mode. We generate about 430MB every 10 mins. No stats levels above 2 (and only the ones set at "2" are the 5 minute and 30 minute).
DBA's input here is that this is unusual. The backups where recenty changed to every 12 hours to hopefully prevent these archive re-do logs from getting out of control.
