I have updated ower vCenter Server 4.0 to Update 1 in dezember, somehow the build number is not showing right.
The show build number is still 208111 if I trie to reinstall the Update 1 I only can completly uninstall the vCenter Server.
So the Update seems to be already installed but somehow also not 100% corectly.
The vCenter Server Loggenerator also shows me the build 208111.
Because of that I also can not update the latest Patch1 for the Update Manager.
Way to go VMware... I love how the release notes just say to "run the installer". Of course, it's all buried a few folders deep, not in the root of the zip file.
you are running the most current version of vCenter
VMware vCenter Server 4 and modules
Installer for VMware vCenter Server (build 208111), VMware vSphere Client (build 208111), VMware vSphere Host Update Utility, VMware vCenter Update Manager (build 208126), VMware vCenter Converter (build 206188), VMware vCenter Guided Consolidation and VMware vCenter Orchestrator. Available in English, German, Japanese, and Simplified Chinese.
Ok so vCenter it self is up to date.
Is it normal that the vCenter Update Manager Update 1 Patch 1 wants that the previos version has to be unistalled?
all the modules listed above are vCenter4 U1. If using VUM this is is part of the ISO download. In order to get to U1 for VUM you will uninstall the previous version, but the installed should take care of that for you.
Are you also reffering to the[VMware vCenter Update Manager 4.0 Update 1 Patch 1|http://app.connect.vmware.com/e/er.aspx?s=524&lid=9519&elq=4ad101a8ee7d4e4c931ff5f6c03a7696]?
I am trying to install it.
you can download the installer from http://downloads.vmware.com/d/details/vum40u1p1/ZHcqYmRqcCpiZGUlaA==
Shouldn't have any problems. did you read the release notes?
I'm running the update now... will post back when complete.
I think I found the answear, somehow I was using the wrong setup to update.
I had to start "VMware-UpdateManager.exe" instead of "VMware vCenter Update Manager.msi" how stupid
glad you got it resolved. I had to manually uninstall the previous version but the install is going fine on mine with no issues.
