    Hi,

I'm going to install vCenter and have two questions:

    1. Is the vCenter must have an Active Directory?

    2. Can I install the Active Directory as VM and the vCenter as VM on the same ESX(i) host?

    Thanks.

Yo don't need AD, but if you are an Admin in your ads, then you can use this account to administrate your venter.

You can put both machine on an ESX(i) host, both s supported, but remeber if you have only one host and it went down both machines becoming unavailable!

AD is not mandatory for installing vCenter. But if you are planning to use multiVC, domain account login etc. it is a must to add your machine into AD

    Hope this helps

AD is not a rquirement, but user management is a great deal easier if youhave an AD>

The vCentre can be installed on a VM on the same ESX host as the AD, but it can not be installed on the same VM as the AD - this is not supported.
