vCenter 7.0.1 update completed, then hanged, still showing 7.0.0.1

Hello all.

I went to update VCSA to latest.

Went through the whole process.

VAMI timed out after about 5 hours.

Tried logging back in, no go.

Took these actions: https://kb.vmware.com/s/article/67179

Finally got back in and the version did not change.

Still showing the old version.

Tried to check and and VAMI showing no updates available.

Tried manually update via SSH. Got this.

Any ideas on how to fix this ?

The bootstrap.log is attached.

In Screenshot showing commands are not correct. Follow below steps.

Mount the update ISO to vCenter

software-packages stage --iso -acceptEulas

software-packages list --staged

software-packages install --staged

Once finish you can reboot

Hi Nawais

I don't think you read or looked at the putty screenshot.

I'm not new to VMWare.

I did that

Something is causing it to not stage at all.

Checked the logs, there's no indication.

That's when I came on here to pick the collective's brains.

Both the Putty screenshot and the logs are attached to the post.

Thanks.

I had the same issue today in my lab.

Tried to upgrade 7.0 U1 and it took forever, when it didn't seem right I started checking logs and VAMI would result to below error.

vcsa update to 7.0u1 Returning from install(), data conversion failed post install hook failed

Tried what I could find about the issue and tried what is in below to get access to VAMI, once I got access I saw the version  didnt match between VAMI and vSphereUI.

pastedImage_1.png

What I noticed though was UI was upgraded and could see the new options for Namespaces, also as I staged the updates from VAMI first and then installed it  so after first attempt it still showed update is available but numbers of packages went down, guess hence UI was updated. Neither did version in VAMI and vSphereUI

Eventually rolled back as I wanted to have lab accessible for NSX-T hands-on.

Can you let me know how you rolled back.

I tried but kept getting error. But no specific error.

Thanks
