vCenter 6.7 installation on ESXi 5.5

Hi all,

maybe you can help me.

Is it theoretically possible to deloy a VMware vCenter v6.7.0 on an ESXi host 5.5? (We don't want to manage it with the vCenter), just run the VM on it.
Cause we can select on a running VM the VMware HW Version 10 to support 5.5 so I assume it's possible somehow.

Host CPU: DL386 G7 AMD Opteron 6174
ESXi Version: 5.5.0
ESXi Build: 3568722

I can see in the Installation Setup Dokument, that v5.5 was still supported at one point:
https://docs.vmware.com/en/VMware-vSphere/6.7/vsphere-vcenter-server-67-installation-guide.pdf (Page 25, bottom).

But on your website, you mention, that only 6.0 is supported anymore:
https://docs.vmware.com/en/VMware-vSphere/6.7/com.vmware.vcenter.upgrade.doc/GUID-752FCA83-1A9B-499E...

Does someone knows, when this changed and if we can somehow do it?

The ESXi hosts 5.5 will be replaced soon but not soon enough. Also we'd like to use the vCenter in version 6.7 directly to manage the new ESXi hosts (v6.7 as well).

Thanks a lot for your help.

Best regards
Markus

Hi,

In the product compatibility matrix, the Esxi 5.5 version is no longer compatible. Compatibility exists from Esxi version 6.0 onwards. However, the rule says that the vCenter must always be the same or higher than the Esxi version.
You can give it a try ... nothing happens.
